BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has dropped his two cents on Ruben Amorim’s “focus” amid his Premier League prediction for Manchester United vs West Ham.
Manchester United will now return to Premier League action on Sunday and the Red Devils will welcome West Ham to Old Trafford for their next outing at home.
The Red Devils travelled to the Gtech Community Stadium last Sunday and Manchester United lost 4-3 to Brentford in their last Premier League clash.
United languish in 15th place in the Premier League table and the Red Devils have only managed 10 wins from 35 league matches in the 2024-25 season.
Ruben Amorim’s men have lost a staggering 16 times alone in their lacklustre Premier League campaign and United have only three league matches remaining.
United will end the current season with their worst finish in the Premier League era and the Red Devils are now unable to climb into the top half of the table.
Amorim’s only hope for United not to miss out on European football for the 2025-26 season is now entirely dependent on the Red Devils lifting the Europa League trophy.

Chris Sutton’s view on Ruben Amorim and the Europa League ahead of Man Utd’s Premier League tie vs West Ham at Old Trafford
Manchester United bounced back from the Brentford defeat after the Red Devils resumed their 2024-25 Europa League campaign on Thursday evening.
Ruben Amorim’s side were in action at Old Trafford for their second-leg Europa League semi-final tie and United defeated Athletic Club 4-1 on the night.
United have reached the 2025 Europa League final and the Red Devils will face fellow Premier League side Tottenham on 21st May in Bilbao.
Chris Sutton insisted that United manager Amorim must not be complacent with the Europa League final against Spurs now looming in the background.
Speaking in his BBC Sport column, he wrote: “I am not sure who would want to watch this game?
“Manchester United’s second string versus such a poor West Ham side with nothing to play for is not exactly essential viewing, is it?
“The Europa League final is going to be Ruben Amorim’s focus for the rest of the season and Brentford made the most of that when they beat a weakened United team last weekend.
“I am not sure the Hammers are as dynamic as Brentford in attack, however, so they may not be capable of doing the same thing.”
What was Chris Sutton’s Premier League scoreline prediction for Man Utd vs West Ham at Old Trafford?
Kick-off for the Premier League clash between United and Graham Potter’s West Ham side on Sunday is slated for 2:15pm UK time at Old Trafford.
West Ham are 17th in the table – two places behind United – and the Hammers are two points behind the Red Devils ahead of their visit to Old Trafford.
“A lot depends on the United team selection, though,” Sutton continued.
“It is hard enough making predictions anyway, but [it’s] even harder when there could be mass changes, and you don’t know whether it is the United first team who are going to play, or be more like the youth team.
“That makes this more of a guess, when I am used to applying science to my predictions, but I wish I had gone for West Ham to draw with Tottenham last week, and I am not going to make the same mistake this time.”
Sutton has tipped United and West Ham to share the Premier League points at Old Trafford on the weekend and the BBC Sport pundit has backed a 1-1 scoreline.
