Manchester United’s players have not had a lot to celebrate over the last three games. Last night’s match was a vital three points.
Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes gave the Red Devils a welcome 2-0 win, which was a lot harder than it sounds from the scoreline alone.

Having given up leads in four of the previous six games heading into last night’s match, United never felt secure at 1-0.
Bruno Fernandes’s late goal wrapped the game up in the seventh minute of injury time. Until then it was a nervous evening.
United’s players celebrate
Fernandes was delighted to net his eighth goal of the season, and sent a message after the victory. His words spoke of his ‘relief’ at the result.
Fernandes’ goal was created from a pass from Paul Pogba, a second half substitute.
Pogba wrote a message in Portuguese to Fernandes after the game, which translates as ‘Great goal friend’, with a picture of the pair celebrating.

Diogo Dalot was among the United players who also posted to social media, with Cristiano Ronaldo responding to his message.
Ronaldo had earlier expressed his happiness separately after scoring his first goal in 2022, his 15th of the current season.
Fred and Victor Lindelof had both made their returns to the starting line up for the game and both of them also put out message on social media after the victory.
