Bruno Fernandes sends inspiring message to Renato Sanches after he clinches move away from Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has shown his support for one of his younger Portugal international teammates.

One of the biggest transfers this window has seen Joao Neves clinch a major transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

The midfielder had been a target for Manchester United earlier in the summer, but Benfica’s insistence clubs pay Neves’ release clause made him too expensive.

PSG found a unique solution to get around the high fee. They worked out a cash plus player swap, sending Renato Sanches in the other direction.

Another new start for Renato Sanches

Renato Sanches’ move is a loan move with an option to buy, rather than a permanent exit. But the message from PSG was clear, he is expendable.

Sanches, 26, made his name as a teenager at Benfica, before being snapped up by German giants Bayern Munich.

It was a move which ended up coming too early, resulting in a loan move to Swansea City, before he was sold to Lille.

At Lille he re-discovered his form and re-invented himself, earning a move to PSG. Last season he ended up being loaned out to Roma.

Now he is back to where it all started, heading back to Benfica where he made his first team debut as a teenager way back in 2015, almost a decade ago.

Bruno Fernandes shows his support

Renato Sanches has been a regular in Portugal squads through his career and has got to know Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.

Former Sporting midfielder Fernandes has reached out to Sanches on Instagram, urging him to start enjoying his football back at Benfica.

He wrote: “May this joy come back and may you shine again.”
