Bruno Fernandes has admitted that one Manchester United star must “deal” with the huge pressure placed on their shoulders after Sunday’s encounter with Bournemouth.

Manchester United were back in Premier League action on the weekend and Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils side travelled to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth.

Bournemouth punished United in the first half at the Vitality Stadium after Antoine Semenyo broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute of the Premier League contest.

Andoni Iraola’s men took a 1-0 lead into half-time before the Cherries were reduced to 10 men in the second half after Evanilson was sent off for his challenge.

Ruben Amorim’s side fought back from 1-0 down and Rasmus Hojlund found the crucial equaliser for United against Bournemouth deep into second-half injury time.

United are now 14th in the Premier League table after Sunday’s 1-1 draw and the Red Devils are winless in their last five league matches in the 2024-25 campaign.

The Red Devils have only managed 10 victories from 34 league matches this season and Amorim’s side are on course for their worst finish in the Premier League era.

Bruno Fernandes’ message to Rasmus Hojlund is a real eye-opener after Man Utd striker’s Premier League performance vs Bournemouth

Rasmus Hojlund received a much-needed confidence boost in the final third after he netted a vital equaliser for Manchester United at the Vitality Stadium.

The 22-year-old Danish forward has struggled with consistency and his form in the current season and Hojlund has faced criticism over his lack of impact for United.

Hojlund has only scored four times in 29 Premier League matches and Ruben Amorim’s men have desperately missed a regular goalscorer this season.

Speaking after Bournemouth and United’s 1-1 draw, Bruno Fernandes insisted that the Denmark striker “has to focus” on the best means of scoring for his side.

“He knows how much he needs to score goals at this club,” he told Sky Sports, as per BBC Sport.

“If you want to be at a big club like Manchester United, you need to improve every time you step onto the pitch, but it’s not only up to him.

“Expectations on him are very high, and he has to deal with that. When he doesn’t score, he has to focus on what he needs to do a little bit differently to score.”

What Bruno Fernandes had to say about Athletic Club ahead of Man Utd’s Europa League semi-final encounter

United will face Athletic Club in the next round of the Europa League and Fernandes highlighted the similarities between the Spanish side and Bournemouth.

“Both teams are very intense with very quick wingers who are very good in one-v-ones,” he said.

“We have time now to try and focus on what Athletic are going to do, but we have to focus on what we’re going to do.”

United will travel to Spain and Athletic Club will host the Red Devils at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao for their first-leg Europa League semi-final tie.

Athletic Club and United will meet on 1st May and kick-off for the Europa League match is slated for 8pm UK time.
