Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.
Bruno Fernandes has a big role as Manchester United captain, and feels the pressure when fortunes are not going his way.
The Red Devils skipper needs faith in his teammates, and he still has it, shown by the way he trusted Lisandro Martinez’s excellent late pass to find his run for the winning goal against Rangers.
Fernandes’ winner was his eighth goal of the season, and moved United into a very strong position to claim a top eight place in the Europa League groups.

Bruno Fernandes praises Toby Collyer
Bruno Fernandes spoke after Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Rangers, and praised young midfielder Toby Collyer.
Fernandes spoke to MUTV and was asked about helping the 21-year-old midfielder, who was making his first start for the club.
The Red Devils midfielder gave a decisive statement, showing his confidence in Collyer, commenting: “Toby doesn’t need help.”
Fernandes praised the way Collyer plays and trains, describing him as ‘maximising’ every opportunity he gets.
He added that he likes Collyer’s style of play, commenting: “He has big, big qualities. He’s aggressive off the ball. He’s aggressive running with the ball. He’s class in tight spaces.”
Fernandes confident Collyer has more to offer
Fernandes went on to make a confident prediction about his young teammate.
He added: “This is just the first few games that he’s getting in. He is just gonna get better.”
Fernandes is spot on. This was Toby Collyer’s second ever start for Manchester United, with the first coming against League One side Barnsley back in September.
In 2025, Collyer has begun to earn the trust of head coach Ruben Amorim, featuring from the bench in recent wins against Arsenal and Southampton.
He earned his start against Rangers, and he is in with a real shout of starting again when United face Fulham in the Premier League.
While most likely Amorim goes with Manuel Ugarte, Collyer did a lot to inspire confidence.
