Manchester United players have been responding on social media to Ruben Amorim being dismissed.
The Ruben Amorim spell at Manchester United began with high hopes, but it felt like it never really got going.
United won back-to-back games in the Premier League only once during Amorim’s 14 months in charge of the club.
He departed after a spell in which he won only one of his last five matches – although the team are placed a creditable sixth place in the table at present.
Ineos’ statement made clear that they believe this decision gives United a better chance to secure a top league finish.

The messages show the respect the Manchester United squad had for Ruben Amorim, and to an extent, this was reflected in the performances.
United only lost two games since the end of September. Amorim made United tough to beat by the end, and his player never stopped trying.
There was still something missing, the team underachieved in the final few weeks, and ultimately the head coach paid the price.
