Brighton will have "no fear" facing a "suffering" United side, claims Veltman

Joel Veltman has claimed that Brighton will have “no fear” heading to Old Trafford and facing a Manchester United side that is “suffering”.

Graham Potter’s Seagulls come into Tuesday’s Premier League clash at the Theatre of Dreams unbeaten in their last seven top-flight matches.

Brighton beat Watford 2-0 at Vicarage Road yesterday and are ninth in the table, seven points behind Ralf Rangnick’s side.

The clash between the two sides was meant to take place in mid-December, but it was postponed due to Covid-19 wreaking havoc with the footballing calendar.

In his five meetings against Manchester United, Potter has lost all five clashes, but Veltman isn’t fazed by the record and he fancies Brighton’s chances of inflicting more pain on United.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Veltman said: “We’re on a good run at the moment and we have some nice games coming up. We’ll reflect on Saturday’s win at Watford and then focus on getting a result at Old Trafford.

“We play all our games with no fear, and I think it’s important to do that whoever the opponent is.

“We know Manchester United have got some great players, but they are suffering a little bit at the moment and not where they want to be so hopefully we get a result there.”

After surrendering a 1-0 lead in all three of the matches we have played since the winter break, the onus is on Manchester United to get back to winning ways on Tuesday.

The fact that Veltman, who lost against United when playing for Ajax in the 2017 Europa League final, is speaking so openly about United’s struggles and his belief that Brighton can continue our suffering speaks volumes of where our beloved club currently stands.

The only way we can slowly rebuild any form of fear factor is stringing together a run of wins and becoming ruthless in front of goal.
