Reports linking Brendan Rodgers with the Manchester United manager role won’t go away.
The opposite is happening, they are heating up. The Sun report Rodgers has been house hunting in Cheshire in anticipation of taking up the role.
Rodgers is claimed to be United’s first choice, amid a belief he could be tempted away from Leicester City.
Whether he should be, is a complicated matter, as we examined last week when he was first linked.

Money not the answer?
The report makes another claim about the transfer budget Rodgers would inherit in January.
It is claimed he would be given no money to spend, with the board believing the squad is good enough.
There’s some truth to that of course, but there is also a big deficiency in United’s midfield.
United are likely to have players looking to leave in January, and it is possible there is money to spend based around incomings from potential sales.
Solskjaer still in charge
All of this is just speculation right now. What we know for certain is that Solskjaer holds the manager’s job.
He has been back in Norway, and is expected at Carrington to lead training on Monday, The Athletic report.

United will then have a week to prepare for an away game against Watford next Saturday.
Failure to win would be a further blow for a beleaguered Solskjaer.
But for now, he will get a chance to dig himself out of the hole he is in.
Behind the scenes, United may be more active than we realise when it comes to moving for his successor.
