Anthony Martial’s efforts to leave Manchester United have so far hit a brick wall.
The Frenchman is not currently being considered for first team selection by interim boss Ralf Rangnick since he made clear he wanted a move.
The only club to make an offer for Martial at present are Sevilla, with Sky Sports reporting Manchester United have rejected a loan bid.
Sevilla were willing to pay just half of his wages, and United want any club taking him on loan to pay the full lot.
Sevilla moving on?
Sevilla’s offer came in late December, and United may have rejected the offer as a negotiating tactic, believing the La Liga side were hoping to get him on the cheap.
United may have been hoping Sevilla would come back with an improved offer, and they may, if unsuccessful elsewhere.
Right now Sevilla are moving on, focusing their attentions elsewhere. Spanish newspaper AS report they have shown interest in Bologna forward Riccardo Orsolini.
Also on Sevilla’s list was Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn, who seems Ajax-bound, and with Martial seemingly off their agenda, they have made a new offer for Orsolini.
Di Marzio reports Sevilla are willing to sign Orsolini now on a permanent basis, with Bologna saying they are unwilling to sanction a loan, but prepared to sell.
Blow for Martial
Martial is playing a waiting game now and it seems as though he will miss out on move to Sevilla, the way the situation stands.
The Mail had reported last week Newcastle United were interested in a move for Martial, although he was less than keen on the idea.
Newcastle are focusing elsewhere, set to sign Chris Wood, report The Guardian, and also chasing French sensation Hugo Ekitike who plays for Reims.
Martial is in danger of being left on the shelf, due to a combination of his high wages and dour form over the past 12 months.
In just half a season, Cristiano Ronaldo’s 14 goals have doubled the seven Martial scored for Manchester United last season, and he has just one goal this campaign.
