Pundit Ben Foster has dropped a powerful assessment of Senne Lammens after Manchester United’s 0-0 draw against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.
Senne Lammens chalked up his seventh Premier League clean sheet at the weekend from 30 league matches in his debut season at Manchester United.
The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper was tested a few times at the Stadium of Light and Lammens rose to the occasion in Man Utd’s encounter with Sunderland.
Sunderland were more dominant than United in Saturday’s 0-0 draw, but Lammens ensured the Red Devils did not suffer a setback under interim boss Michael Carrick.

Do you agree with Edwin van der Sar over his Lammens praise?
He was excellent against Everton, but is he the long-term goalkeeper for United?
Ben Foster’s reaction to Senne Lammens’ Man Utd performance vs Sunderland after the Liverpool mistake
The spotlight was on Senne Lammens in parts for the visit to the Stadium of Light after the Manchester United No 1 made a rare howler against Liverpool.
Lammens was punished in the second half of Man Utd’s 3-2 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford after he poorly played the ball out from the back in the match.
Speaking on his podcast, Ben Foster praised Lammens for putting in a steady shift against Sunderland after picking up his latest Premier League clean sheet for United.
“Brilliant, buzzing for him,” he said on Fozcast.
“A couple of real big saves, they’re not necessarily the hardest saves in the world to make, but you’ve got to have your wits about it, you’ve got to be on the ball and that’s exactly what it was.
“And if it wasn’t for him, to be fair, Sunderland were probably the better team, weren’t they?”
Where would YOU rank Senne Lammens right now in a top 10 of world goalkeepers?
Can he be number one in the future?
Ben Foster on Senne Lammens’ mistake against Liverpool and the Man Utd No 1’s debut season
Amad Diallo had already committed one mistake in Man Utd’s clash with Liverpool that allowed the Red Devils to score before Lammens’ howler happened.
Dominik Szoboszlai set up Cody Gakpo for Liverpool’s second at Old Trafford after Lammens was left helpless due to the Reds intercepting his initial pass.
Foster insisted that Lammens showed real character to bounce back from the Liverpool mistake for the Red Devils’ Premier League draw against Sunderland.
“But I’m really happy for him because, [as] I say, I think bouncing back sometimes is the measure of the man, the measure of the goalkeeper, especially when you make a big, high-profile one in a Liverpool game,” he added.
“But yeah, really happy for him. He’s again […] talking about players who should be proud of the season, that first Premier League season for Manchester United, for a goalkeeper.
“With the pressure on a team, really, like United.”
Lammens arrived at Old Trafford on deadline day last summer after Man Utd signed the Belgium international from Royal Antwerp for an initial £18.1m transfer fee.
