Arsene Wenger felt strongly about two aspects around Sir Alex Ferguson during their legendary Premier League rivalry at Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.
That is according to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who has opened up on the words of wisdom that he learned from Arsene Wenger about Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ferguson is widely regarded as one of the best managers of all time and enjoyed incredible success during his time as Manchester United manager.
The 82-year-old Scotsman bowed out of Old Trafford as United manager in 2013 after the Red Devils lifted their last Premier League title.
Ferguson engineered all 13 of United’s Premier League title wins and famously led the Red Devils to an iconic continental treble in the 1998-99 season.
During his time in the Old Trafford dugout, the legendary former United manager shared a heated rivalry with ex-Arsenal head coach Wenger.
Wenger challenged United’s dominance under Ferguson and the Arsenal legend led the Gunners to three Premier League titles, including the famed ‘Invincibles’ season.
Ferguson has a deep-seated appreciation for Wenger and the pair’s intense rivalry in the Premier League has secured its rightful place in the history books.

Arteta on Ferguson and Wenger
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United on Wednesday evening, Mikel Arteta admitted that he was “lucky” to have Arsene Wenger’s tutelage.
Arteta, who played under Wenger as an Arsenal player, admitted that the Frenchman would be “always talking” about the former United manager.
The 42-year-old Spaniard added that Wenger admired Ferguson for the “way he conducted himself” and the Scotsman’s legendary United teams.
“I saw a lot of respect as well there,” Arteta said, as per Hayters TV.
“I was lucky to have Arsene here and the way he was always talking about Sir Alex, his teams and the way he conducted himself – it was top.
“That was a lesson as well because you really want to win but as well you have to accept that the opponent can be better or you can be better than the opponent, and you have to continuously move on.”
Ruben Amorim on Arsenal challenge
Ruben Amorim faces his toughest test as United manager on Wednesday evening, with the Red Devils travelling to the Emirates for their showdown with Arsenal.
The 39-year-old Portuguese manager has overseen two wins and one draw since he took charge at Old Trafford after leaving Sporting CP in November.
Ruben Amorim insisted that he is keen to see his players be “brave” against Arsenal and wants United to “control” the contest at the Emirates.
“It’s important to be brave,” he said at his pre-match press conference, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“When I say brave, it’s not pressing all the time higher. It’s not the same. You have to understand the moments of the game.
“We need to have the ball, that is a key point. We want to have the ball, we want also to dominate some moments of the game because we know that in these matches it’s hard to control all the game.
“If I have to say something, we have to be brave and we have to control the game.”
