‘Apologizing is not enough’ Amad pens clear message to Man Utd fans as team ends year 14th in the table

As a year that every Man Utd fan will quickly want to forget as soon as it ends, Amad has been one big shining light amidst all the chaos.

Starting the year as a fringe player vying for minutes under Erik ten Hag, Amad has ended it as the first name on the teamsheet under Ruben Amorim.

He’s arguably the first choice in two different positions, so impressive has his form been. Even in defeats, the Ivorian has emerged as a player with some credit to his name.

As if Man Utd fans didn’t adore him enough already, he has now penned a heartfelt message to the supporters as a wretched year comes to a close.

Amad’s message to Man Utd fans

At Man Utd, the idea of an “apology” on social media quickly loses its meaning when the team continues to drop limp performances on the pitch after apologising.

Still, if one was to create a list of players who need to apologise for poor performances this season, Amad would probably be right at the bottom of it.

Regardless, he has gone ahead and expressed his heartfelt emotions by posting a message for the fans on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Amad said: “A very difficult year, apologizing is not enough…but you have supported us and continued to do so throughout all this time…thank you.”

He added a picture of himself looking forlorn, presumably after another defeat.

Amad has scored five goals and assisted seven in 27 appearances this season, his first proper one as a first-team regular at Man Utd.

The hope will be that he keeps building on this and 2025 becomes an even better year for him because as it stands, he’s the talisman of this ailing side.

Amad is an example for Man Utd players

Nobody is looking for an apology from the players right now because the performances on the pitch wouldn’t match their words anyway.

In between all this doom and gloom, Amad has emerged as an example for his teammates in terms of how he applies himself, gets his head down, and works hard.

That is the main reason why his levels don’t drop regardless of the position he’s stationed at, an excuse thrown around for many to explain away bad performances.

He has never been a disruptive presence in the dressing room and made no noises in the media despite Ten Hag bafflingly continuing to overlook him.

He is an example that there’s no substitute for good, old-fashioned hard work and controlling the controllable, while the rest will automatically fall into place.

A team of 11 Amad’s would easily be a manager’s dream, they just won’t be very good at set-pieces!

Considering how bad United are at those already, is it really a downgrade?
