Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes struck it off from day one at Manchester United. The January signing helped spark Martial into the Premier League’s most prolific attacker in 2020.
But lately Fernandes has been profiting from Martial winning penalties. Following the spot-kick award against Leicester, Martial won another against FC Copenhagen. Fernandes scored them both.
United getting the win in both games was important, and while it did not matter who scored, Martial sent his teammate a joking warning after the game against Copenhagen, saying ‘Again I give you a penalty but next time I will shoot, well done bro’.

In the end it did not matter who scored, so long as somebody did. United hit the woodwork repeatedly against Copenhagen, had two goals ruled out for offside, and came up against an inspired goalkeeper channeling a combination of Brad Friedel and Tom Heaton’s finest moments against the Red Devils.
Fernandes posted on social media too, acknowledging the tough test the Danes provided in a match which required extra-time.
Fernandes’ ability from the penalty spot is not something which Manchester United fans take for granted.
Our season was derailed early on by misses from Paul Pogba against Wolves and Marcus Rashford against Crystal Palace.
From the moment the penalty was awarded, you just knew Fernandes would step up and score, even though Copenhagen’s goalkeeper went the right way.
His goal tally is now up to 11 since signing for United, and we hope there are more to come before the Europa League campaign is over. Add in his eight assists he has contributed too, and he looks to be worth every money of his transfer fee.
