Super agent Jorge Mendes is a key figure in Manchester United’s talks for Mateus Fernandes and another of his clients is now being linked to Old Trafford.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are in ‘active’ talks with Mateus Fernandes over a summer transfer.
West Ham want £85m for Fernandes but United are in negotiations to lower that asking price. Fernandes’ agent Jorge Mendes will be key in those negotiations.
Mendes has an interesting history with United, including a strong relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson. Not only could he bring Mateus Fernandes to Old Trafford this summer, but a Barcelona star could follow in his footsteps.

Jorge Mendes could bring Marc Casado to Man Utd
United have shown interest in Marc Casado dating back to 2025 when Ruben Amorim was keen on the transfer.
Now, reports from Spain claim that Barcelona have decided to sell Casado in 2026, and the La Masia graduate could be available for as little as €25 million.
According to Sport Witness, Mendes will be key to deciding Casado’s future, and it is mentioned that the agent has “very close ties” with United.
United are looking to overhaul their midfield this summer and several top targets have already dropped off their radar, including Elliot Anderson, Aurelien Tchouameni and Sandro Tonali.

Marc Casado could be cheap option for Man United
Ahead of the summer window, it was reported that United want three midfield signings to arrive.
If Mateus Fernandes is set to cost up to £85m, he could arrive as the ‘marquee’ signing of the summer. A £38m deal for Ederson has already been agreed.

The third midfield signing could be a cheaper option for Ineos, around the £20m-£25m mark, and Casado fits perfectly into that mould.
As a young, defensive midfielder, Casado is exactly what United are looking for. He is technically gifted, mobile and he already has experience of winning trophies with Barcelona.
