Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has been making the most of a chance to take a mid-season holiday in Dubai.
Martial was not named in the France squad for the international break, having not played a single minute for United between the October and November internationals.
France did not seem to miss him, ruthlessly beating Kazakhstan 8-0 in their World Cup qualifier last week.
Martial’s wife Melanie posted a photo with the United striker at the weekend.
A chance to refresh?
There is certainly a contrast in approach between Martial and fellow forwards Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.
The Athletic. reported last week how both of them have been at Carrington doing extra training and working with academy players.
It is difficult to blame Martial though, considering the mixed messages sent out by United.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer flew to Norway for a holiday with questions about his own future ongoing.
United’s players were subsequently told they did not have to be in last week, with Martial granted permission to head off on holiday.
After being snubbed off the bench for an ill Rashford against City, you can’t blame him for wanting to clear his head.
Martial has not just been relaxing on holiday. He was pictured working out from Dubai during his break, looking to stay in shape.
He is expected back at Carrington next week as United begin preparation to face Watford.
Martial has a strong record against Watford in previous matches between the two teams and recalling him could be a good way for the team to return with a fresh approach.
