Anthony Martial’s injury for France against Kazakhstan last Sunday could have repercussions beyond this coming weekend.

Martial did not even make the bench for France’s game against Bosnia on Wednesday and is a doubt for Manchester United’s game with Brighton on Sunday.

French newspaper L’Equipe report Martial’s injury could cost him further.

The report states Martial is an injury doubt for Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final first leg against Granada.

Martial’s injury is described as a bone bruise on the knee, and while there is a small chance he could be fit for the Granada game, it’s more likely he does not travel to Spain.

Instead Martial’s return date is projected as the Premier League clash with Tottenham on Sunday April 11.

What United and Martial didn’t need

Martial suffered a hip injury in the home game with AC Milan and has been in and out of the side since, starting just once.

Now he returns to United with a new injury, battling to get back up to speed and try and improve on his goal tally of just seven strikes this season in all competitions.

Fortunately Edinson Cavani is fit again, but Martial’s injury leaves little room for error with the Uruguayan’s fitness. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would rather have the option to rotate.

Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are both working their way back to fitness from injuries themselves, and Solskjaer will provide an update on their progress at his press conference.

Martial’s injury could open up more chances for Amad Diallo, who replaced him in the home draw with AC Milan.
