Granada are finally set to sign Facundo Pellistri on loan from Premier League giants Manchester United with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Uruguayan’s return to La Liga is now imminent.
After his previous spell in Spanish football ended in relegation – Deportivo Alaves finishing rock bottom in 2022 – Facundo Pellistri will be hoping things go rather better for him this time around.
The £9 million Manchester United benchwarmer was made available by the Old Trafford outfit at the start of the month. And, following links with Villarreal, LA Galaxy and PSV Eindhoven, Granada have moved into pole position, an agreement between the two clubs now expected to be tied up sooner rather than later.

Pellistri finally set for Manchester United exit
“Granada are closing in on Facu Pellistri loan deal from Manchester United,” Romano writes on X, the winger potentially on his way to the Nuevo los Carmenes before the close of play on Wednesday.
“The agreement is getting closer as talks moving fast. (There will be) more contacts today to get it done between all parties.
“Green light from the player revealed 10 days ago. Now, almost there.”
According to the Daily Mail, talks between United and Granada stalled recently due to a disagreement over how much the La Liga strugglers would contribute towards Pellistri’s salary over the next few months. It seems that this particular obstacle has now been overcome, though it remains to be seen whether it was Granada or the Red Devils who softened their stance.
“He is a player with characteristics that the coach may like,” Matteo Tognozzi, the club’s sporting director, told Granada Digital a week ago.
“Let’s see what can be done from here to the end (of the window).”
Another player swapping Old Trafford for Spain
Pellistri has started only one Premier League game all season, despite the absences of Jadon Sancho and Antony. He was largely ineffective, too, during that 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace in September.
Pellistri will now become the third Man United youngster to swap Old Trafford for Spain since the turn of the year. Hannibal Mejbri and Mateo Mejia joined fellow relegation battlers Sevilla recently.
Granada are 19th in the table, just two places and five points adrift of Man United’s 2023 Europa League conquerers.
