Facundo Pellsitri is reported to be leaving Premier League giants Manchester United for Granada with the La Liga club’s sporting director breaking his silence on the speculation.
With Granada reportedly in advanced talks, the £9 million Uruguay international could become the latest Manchester United fringe player to depart Old Trafford during the January transfer window. And the third to up sticks and head to Spain.
Hannibal Mejbri and Mateo Mejia were unveiled by Sevilla this week.
It remains to be seen, however, if Facundo Pellistri finds himself going head-to-head with his fellow youngsters when Granada face off against their relegation at the start of May, Granada’s sporting director Matteo Tognozzi speaking out for the first time about the club’s alleged interest in the former Penarol whizzkid.
Facundo Pellistri could leave Manchester United

“He is a player with characteristics that the coach may like,” Tognozzi tells Granada Digital. “Let’s see what can be done from here to the end (of the window).”
Interestingly, Tognozzi did explain that he feels Granada already have ‘enough forwards’ at their disposal. It is uncertain, however, if he was referring solely to centre-forwards, rather than wingers like Pellistri.
“At this moment, I think we have enough forwards,” the director adds. “We have a squad limit. I think we have the right offensive players for the objective we have.”
Is La Liga move really happening?
Fabrizio Romano reports, via X, that Pellistri has already given his switch to the Nuevo los Carmenes the ‘green light’. But Tognozzi’s comments may raise fears that Granada are not quite as keen on him as he is on them.
Pellistri, who joined United back in 2020, has started only one Premier League game this season. September’s 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven have already ruled themselves out of the race for the 22-year-old, while reports linking him with Villarreal and LA Galaxy have crown cold of late.
