Alex Telles shone on his Manchester United debut in Paris last week but has not been in a matchday squad.

That was something of a mystery, until Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the Brazilian has tested positive for Covid-19.

Speaking after the 5-0 thumping of RB Leipzig last night, Solskjaer stated: Telles has tested positive for coronavirus so he’s been out for a few days. No symptoms though, so he’ll be fine. He’ll be back soon.”

After those comments, Telles took to Instagram to thank United fans for their well wishes.

Telles’ display of power and purpose in Paris got United fans excited about what he can add to Solskjaer’s side.

He has suffered something of a false start with being sidelined, but it is positive to hear he has no symptoms.

Luke Shaw has been part of a backline which has kept two straight clean sheets, but the early signs are that Telles offers more attacking thrust.

His positive test adds to the challenge of settling in after his deadline day move, but Telles has already shown signs of his quality.

Solskjaer showed the strength of his squad last night and when fully recovered, Telles will add to that, offering real competition to Shaw.
