Former Manchester United and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique faced the “impossible” task of answering a tough question involving three of his former teammates.
Pique came through Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy and started his senior playing career at Old Trafford under legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 36-year-old signed for United in 2004 and made 23 appearances during his time at Old Trafford before he returned to Barcelona in 2008 for a fee of around £5m.
Pique thrived under former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola and struck up a formidable partnership with Spain legend Carles Puyol in the heart of defence.
The Barcelona legend lifted nine La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and seven Copa del Reys during a glittering career at the Camp Nou.
Pique, who retired from football in 2022, also enjoyed incredible success with Spain on the international stage and won a World Cup and the Euros with his country.

Pique on his ‘impossible’ question
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, Pique opened up about his time at United and Barcelona as well as his venture with the Kings League competition.
Pique was asked to choose between United legend Paul Scholes and legendary former Barcelona duo Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
“Don’t start with that kind [of question]. I mean, it’s very tough,” he said.
“Scholesy was so unique. The level of the long passes [and] the touch that he had was so special.
“And Iniesta and Xavi were different. The kind of style of play because they were all the time controlling the game with short passes and Iniesta had that very much one vs one and maybe he scored very important goals that this is, obviously, at the end of the day people will remember you because of that.
“And Xavi the level of controlling the whole match and not losing any ball playing in the midfield was very, very impressive.
“It’s impossible to choose one. Don’t give me that question because I will not answer it.”
Who did Pique choose out of Scholes, Xavi and Iniesta?
Pique struggled to decide on one player before he praised former Barcelona and Spain teammate Iniesta, who currently plays for UAE Pro League side the Emirates.
The ex-Spain international opened up about his success on the international stage with Iniesta, who was a key part of his country’s success at the 2010 World Cup.
Iniesta made the difference in the 2010 final against the Netherlands, with the Spain and Barcelona legend scoring the winner in the second half of extra-time.
Spain lifted their first World Cup title at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, with Pique saying that he can call himself a “World Cup champion” due to Iniesta’s exploits.
When choosing between the trio of players, Pique continued: “Iniesta, because he scored the World Cup winner and I’m a World Cup champion because of that goal.”
