Manchester United defender Sergio Reguilon played only his second match for the club in the narrow defeat to Bayern Munich.
A topsy-turvy game at the Allianz Arena saw some bad performances and some good ones from Manchester United players. Loanee Sergio Reguilon was in the ‘good’ category.
Supporters were impressed with the Spaniard’s persistence in getting forward, along with his tracking back.
One clip doing the rounds on social media showed Reguilon darting across the pitch from left to right to make a tackle when nobody else would. It was in stark contrast to the one which saw Scott McTominay criticised for failing to track back.

Sergio Reguilon battling for Manchester United future
Sergio Reguilon is in a unique position at Manchester United because he has only signed on a loan deal.
Within this loan arrangement, there is a clause which means Manchester United can cut it short in January, The Mail report.
This clause was agreed in everybody’s best interests amid expectation Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia will be fit again by January.
It is still expected this will be the case, and Reguilon could be bumped back down the pecking order to third choice.
The Spaniard knows this is a possibility, perhaps even a likelihood. So he is fighting for his future to try and convince United to do the unexpected, and buy him permanently.
Reguilon is playing with great desire, and it is clear. He’s showing a few of his teammates up.
Great opportunity for Reguilon
Having fallen out of favour at Tottenham, three years after his £28 million move to the club, Reguilon needed a fresh start.
Whether there is a long-term path for him at Manchester United remains to be seen.
Taking into account questions over funds, adding a third left-back would be excessive, despite the temporary need for one. Malacia only signed last year, while Shaw penned a contract extension earlier in 2023.
The only route for Reguilon is if Shaw were to make a permanent switch to centre-back, where he impressed frequently last season.
It’s possible – but it’s up to Reguilon to play so well that Erik ten Hag decides he can’t possibly be dropped.
At the least, Reguilon can put himself in the shop window for another move. His stock has already increased after just two games in a Manchester United shirt.
