Footballers are trying to find ways to pass the time and Manchester United midfielder Fred was one of many to do an Instagram Live chat with fans.
Among other questions, Fred was asked to pick out his top two United academy prospects.
He named James Garner and Angel Gomes as his favourite young players coming through, the MEN reported.
Gomes and Garner are in the ‘next batch’ of players trying to establish themselves in the first team after Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams made the leap this past season.
United are currently trying to convince Gomes to sign a new deal, with his current contract set to expire at the end of June.
Both players we would have liked to have seen more of this season. Fred played alongside Gomes in the Europa League and the EFL Cup, while Garner replaced him at home to Partizan.
Work and family balance
Fred has been trying to maintain his high levels of fitness during the lockdown, while also spending quality family time during the break.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave an interview to the club website yesterday about what he has been up to during this break.
He said: “I’m good. The family is good. One of the downsides of football is you don’t get too much time with your family and the flipside now is you get loads of time with them. It’s been nice to spend some time with them.
“For the actual job, I keep in touch and communicate with the staff and the players. Of course, I’m used to seeing them every day for hours and hours, so it’s different.
“I just keep in touch with them on WhatsApp groups and messages, and we plan for whenever we get back and what kind of sessions for when we do start.”
With a bit of luck, and only when it’s safe, we will be back to action before long.
