£22m star’s Man Utd audition didn’t go to plan, although Alejandro Garnacho will be impressed

Manchester United drew 3-3 with Galatasaray in a thrilling Champions League group-stage clash.

It was a game of severe highs and depressing lows for Erik ten Hag‘s Manchester United side. The highs? Another Alejandro Garnacho goal, a superb Bruno Fernandes strike and a fine performance from many stars.

The lows? An Andre Onana disaster-class, another Anthony Martial no-show and, ultimately, a result which will probably see United crash out of the Champions League.

There was another man on the pitch who will be disappointed with his performance. He was playing for the opposition, but it could very well affect his future at Old Trafford.

Sacha Boey has a second Manchester United audition

Sacha Boey produced a fine performance in Manchester earlier this season. He helped Galatasaray produce a big win against United, which put him on the United manager‘s radar.

Fotospor reported in October that United had been scouting Boey ahead of a potential move for him in 2024.

Last night was yet another chance for Boey to impress the Dutchman – which he didn’t take.

It wasn’t the best night for the Frenchman, who was run-ragged for a lot of the game defensively. He did have some bright moments, but ultimately he looked a little out of place defensively which led to a mass amount of United chances.

That was the nature of the game, and arguably it would’ve been a different story had it been a different occasion – but his stats certainly don’t paint him in the best light.

A poor performance defensively from Boey, which won’t have done him any favours if he fancied a move. He’s set to have a £22m price tag over his head, with other Premier League clubs also interested.

Alejandro Garnacho will be impressed by one moment

Despite the fact the Argentine more or less got the better of him most times on the night, there was a moment from Boey which will have seriously impressed United’s wonderkid.

This came early in the first half, during a duel on the right-hand side – which resulted in the young full-back nutmegging Garnacho.

Usually, it’s the other way around – so this will gain major brownie points from the United winger.
