Manchester United will take on Crystal Palace on Sunday with a chance to make it four consecutive wins.
Say it quietly, but things are beginning to look up for Manchester United.
Since the turn of the year, Ruben Amorim has led his team to five wins in seven – with only one defeat – and has the chance to improve this record further on Sunday afternoon.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 10 | 23 | 8 | 9 | 6 | 34 | 31 | 3 | 33 | |
| 11 | 23 | 9 | 4 | 10 | 42 | 40 | 2 | 31 | |
| 12 | 23 | 8 | 5 | 10 | 28 | 32 | -4 | 29 | |
| 13 | 23 | 6 | 9 | 8 | 26 | 30 | -4 | 27 | |
| 14 | 23 | 7 | 6 | 10 | 28 | 44 | -16 | 27 |
Despite an improvement in form, United still sit outside the top half and could drop even further this weekend if defeated by Crystal Palace.
Tuesday’s 2-0 win over FCSB was arguably the best game United have played, dominating from start to finish – but Amorim needs a similar display against Premier League opposition to prove progress has been made.

How Ruben Amorim will line-up his Manchester United side
On Sunday, Old Trafford can expect to see a strong United side, however, it might not be the XI that some are expecting.
This is because Thursday night saw Amorim find arguably his best attack structure and we’d like this to continue on Sunday.

So here’s our predicted line-up to take on Crystal Palace.
Andre Onana
In goal, Altay Bayindir was impressive on Thursday – but Andre Onana is the league goalkeeper and will start this one in search of consecutive clean sheets.
Leny Yoro
Moving into the defence, Leny Yoro didn’t start mid-week and so it seems likely he will be here against Palace. Yoro has been endorsed by Harry Maguire and it seems the club are very happy with his development.
Harry Maguire
Partnering Yoro, we expect will be Maguire as he also didn’t start mid-week. Maguire has become key for Amorim and is playing a key role.
Lisandro Martinez
Completing the back-line, Lisandro Martinez will start. In recent weeks the Argentine has shone, and against FCSB Martinez was a standout, his value to the side is huge. He can have a rest next Friday and hand Ayden Heaven his debut.

Amad Diallo

Recent weeks have proven that United are so much better with Amad Diallo’s attacking quality as a wing-back – as opposed to having two full-backs. So until Patrick Dorgu can go in on the left, Amad should be the starter on the right to balance things out.
Manuel Ugarte
In midfield, we saw Manuel Ugarte afforded a week of rest, not being called upon against FCSB. So this means he’s sure to start against Palace.
Bruno Fernandes
For United recently, Bruno Fernandes has been much better in midfield than in attack and so he should start here against Palace. Bruno is evolving into a very good No.8 and as he ages, he will only improve.
Diogo Dalot
Diogo Dalot scored against FCSB and we think he’ll start on the left against Palace. With Dorgu’s announcement likely this weekend, this could be the last time he is called upon to play this side for a while.
Kobbie Mainoo
Starting on the right side of the No.10s, Kobbie Mainoo has earned this spot based on Thursday’s “quality” – as John O’Shea labelled it – performance. With a goal and an assist, Mainoo was the best player on the pitch against FCSB, this could be the true birth of the 19-year-old after Ten Hag misprofiled him.
Alejandro Garnacho
On the right, Alejandro Garnacho has also played so well that Amorim simply must start him. Garnacho has been fighting for his United future, and it seems he will now remain at the club, which is excellent news.
Rasmus Hojlund
Finally, the striker position is a tough one considering both have struggled. Hopefully, Mathys Tel will arrive – but for now, Rasmus Hojlund should start here as his runs were important vs FCSB.
