Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Tottenham.
Spurs posted a statement from chairman Daniel Levy on their website, which said:
“Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a club. Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic.
“I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged. He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution.”
Mourinho’s latest departure bears hallmarks of his exit from United.
Spurs results are hugely on the slide, the style of football has been awful to watch and Mourinho is turning on everyone and anyone to protect his own reputation.
It was exactly the same at United and both clubs have felt that the situation could not continue until the end of the season.
In Tottenham’s case, it’s Ryan Mason who’s charged with returning the feelgood factor after the dark cloud Mourinho tends to hang over a club has been lifted.

Mourinho faced United in his final home match in charge of Spurs and players and fans alike reveled in beating him 3-1 on his own patch.
Paul Pogba produced a masterclass on that occasion, before sticking the boot into Mourinho in the press a few days later.
Luke Shaw is another player who has blossomed at United since Mourinho’s departure and there’s no doubt the squad is more harmonious under Solskjaer.
After United tightened their grip on second place in the Premier League and went 16 points ahead of Spurs with a 3-1 win over Burnley, some fans gave their view on Mourinho’s sacking on Twitter:
