Alejandro Garnacho’s future as a Manchester United player remains in doubt.
After Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s startling admission that Manchester United were going bust by the end of 2025, focus has shifted to how the club can raise money this summer.
Ineos plan to make £100m+ in sales with the Red Devils ready to wave goodbye to several stars. The trio of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho all left on loan this season and ideally United want to find them permanent homes.
In January, shocking reports claimed Ineos are open to selling Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho. Both stayed put over the winter, but noise around their future refuses to go away.

Ineos slash Alejandro Garnacho price, Man United exit likely
In January, United were in talks with Napoli over Garnacho. Having already poached Scott McTominay in the summer, Antonio Conte was keen to sign Garnacho.
Napoli submitted a bid for Garnacho, but it was well below the asking price that United had set, believed to be around £70million.
Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has exclusively spoken to United in Focus and revealed that Alejandro Garnacho’s asking price has been slashed by Ineos ahead of the summer.
United are now ready to accept bids of around £50m for Garnacho if they arrive in the summer. The Red Devils are aware that they will need to raise money in order to fund their own transfer plans.
It is understood that there is now an acceptance around the club that Garnacho is likely to move on this summer.
From a Profit and Sustainability Rules perspective, Garnacho is an academy graduate so his sale will provide pure profit to United’s accounts.
Atletico Madrid join Alejandro Garnacho transfer race
Unlike other players United are keen to sell this summer, Garnacho should attract plenty of interest from around Europe.
Napoli were leading the race for Garnacho over the winter and Chelsea also made contact, but they could now face competition from elsewhere with Bailey revealing that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are showing interest.
United signed Garnacho from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and Diego Simeone is now open to bringing the Argentine back.
Bailey revealed that a return to Atletico has long been one of Garnacho’s “most desired options”, and United’s slashed asking price could tempt the Spanish club to submit an offer.
Garnacho has been advised to leave United by club legend Rio Ferdinand, and with Ineos seemingly keen to offload him, it is a deal to keep an eye on.
