Who is Jariyah Shah? Man Utd youngster eligible for four different international teams makes under-18s debut

Manchester United’s under-18s racked up another victory, while mixing in a couple of new faces too.

A first team injury crisis led to Ruben Amorim calling up several youngsters to fill out his bench against Tottenham, with Chido Obi coming on to make his debut.

With the young prospects being promoted internally, with an under-21 game on Monday night, this created a handful of open spots in United’s under-18s side on Tuesday evening.

This saw 16-year-old striker Louie Bradbury net on his first competitive start for the side. He has been prolific at a younger age group, and has featured as a substitute recently too.

Another notable player to feature was Jariyah Shah, making his first ever appearance at under-18s level.

Who is Jariyah Shah?

Manchester United signed Jariyah Shah from Doncaster Rovers in 2023, as part of a triple deal with the club worth six-figures.

Shah was one of three youngsters United signed, along with Zac Watson and Neitan Barbosa, with the trio 14 at the time.

Currently, 16, Shah has now stepped up to make his Manchester United under-18s debut, playing an hour in the 2-1 victory over Wolves.

The midfielder has been a regular for United’s under-16s team, recently scoring in a win over rivals City.

Jariyah Shah eligible to play for four international teams

Former Manchester United youngster Zidane Iqbal found himself at the centre of a battle between three nations he was eligible to play for, Iraq, Pakistan and England.

It was a similar story for Maxi Oyedele, eligible for Poland, Nigeria and England.

Jariyah Shah could have a choice of four nations. He was born in Australia, with his parents hailing from Pakistan and Vietnam. Separately he is eligible to play for England through his citizenship.

As his United career progresses, interest in his international commitment is expected to rise. And this is just the start.
