The FA Youth Cup began on Wednesday night, with Manchester United U18s thrashing Coventry 5-0 at Leigh Sports Village.

Gabriele Biancheri was back with the U18s on Wednesday night for the FA Youth Cup and it was a night to remember.

The 18-year-old has been sensational this season, moving up to U21 level where he has been scoring as regularly for Manchester United as he did at U18.

United thumped Coventry 5-0 in the game, with Biancheri being the standout performer and joined Chido Obi, in being among the goals.

Biancheri scored three, while Obi impressed fans with his brace. However, it is Biancheri we cannot help but feel Ruben Amorim should take note of.

Gabriele Biancheri was the standout performer in FA Youth Cup triumph

When Biancheri plays, he scores. Football is that simple for the young Welshman who took his season tally to 20 goals on Wednesday night with a hat-trick under the lights at the Leigh Sports Village.

Biancheri opened the scoring for United, as he got a tap-in at the back post after James Scanlon’s cross.

The young Serigo Aguero-like forward then made it 2-0 as he rounded the goalkeeper cooly after a brilliant assist by Jacob Devaney.

Biancheri then assisted Obi’s first goal of the night.

The final goal contribution of Biancheri’s game was his third goal, which saw him have another tap-in after Godwill Kukonki unselfishly assisted him.

Ruben Amorim must hand Biancheri his Manchester United chance

After yet another impressive performance, it is simply unavoidable that Biancheri deserves his chance to be brought into the first-team squad.

Amorim has high hopes for United’s academy, with a handful expected to become first-team players in the next 18 months, one could easily be Biancheri.

With Marcus Rashford’s uncertain future, there is a place for Biancheri to take within the squad and we imagine Biancheri has already caught the eye.

Amorim will be informed of Biancheri’s performance, in which the Welshman showed more than just his ability in front of goal, but also shone with his link-up play from the left.

Thriving on the left and still being the dominant factor in the game is also encouraging, as it is a role he could play for Amorim as it may actually suit his evolving game better.

Biancheri has improved so much during 2024 and now looks very polished in everything he does on the football pitch and most importantly we can envision him being capable of contributing for Amorim.

He is ready, he just needs to be given a chance.
