Manchester United’s next generation have the chance to progress in the FA Youth Cup tonight when they host Everton.
The match will take place at Old Trafford, exposing some of United’s brightest talents to what it is like playing at the Theatre of Dreams.
It is a fifth round tie, with United having beaten their counterparts at Scunthorpe United and Reading so far.
Ralf Rangnick has told United’s official website that he will be watching the game, which of course comes the day after the German oversaw a 1-1 draw with Burnley.

“Yes, it’s a great opportunity,” said Rangnick about whether he’ll watch the game. “Before Christmas, I intended to watch one of those games but, due to COVID, it was not possible.
“It is a great opportunity to play in this famous stadium and hopefully they can win the game.”
“There is a German Youth Cup,” he replied in response to whether Germany have an equivalent to the famous old competition.
“In the end, the two finalists play one day before the German Cup final in Berlin. But they don’t play in a big stadium, it’s in a smaller stadium, an amateur stadium in Berlin. A similar competition also exists in Germany.”

Rangnick is an interim manager and given the short term he is in charge for, he could have been forgiven for shunning the promotion of youngsters.
But he has already pushed Anthony Elanga to the forefront of his United plans and brought Hannibal into his first team squad.
The players in action tonight will be a touch more raw than that but it is an indication of Rangnick’s desire to develop the young talent at the club that he will be watching on.
Rangnick has a good reputation from his time in German football in terms of developing youngsters so hopefully he likes what he sees tonight and United get the win which would take them into the next round.
