Joe Hugill has signed a new contract with Manchester United.
The prolific academy forward has signed a new deal with the Red Devils which will keep him at the club until 2026.
There have been rumours that the English forward will be heading out on loan this January, but that hasn’t stopped the club from putting pen to paper to secure a long-term future for the striker.
Manchester United revealed the 20-year-old’s new deal on Wednesday night.

Joe Hugill new Manchester United contract
Manchester United confirmed Joe Hugill has signed a new contract at Old Trafford via the club’s website. The statement read:
‘Joe Hugill has signed a new contract with Manchester United. The striker has agreed fresh terms that will run until 2026, with the option of a further year.’
‘He has developed well this season and trained regularly with the first team, while being on the bench four times, including for Monday night’s Emirates FA Cup third-round victory at Wigan Athletic.’
‘The 20-year-old joined the Reds from Sunderland in the summer of 2020 and has been a regular scorer for our Under-18s and Under-21s.’
‘He was part of the FA Youth Cup-winning squad in 2022, coming on as a substitute in the final against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.’
‘After gaining some valuable experience on loan at Altrincham last term, he showed his finishing prowess with a well-taken goal in the pre-season victory over Leeds United in Oslo.’
Hugill has 55 goals in Manchester United’s academy setup so far during his career – will he be making a first-team squad claim soon?
Anthony Martial’s replacement?
Step aside Anthony Martial, Hugill is probably a better option than the injury-prone Frenchman right now.
Although, United can’t seem to get rid of Martial, meaning it will likely be Hugill who does head on loan. But in the long term – he certainly has a shot at breaking through. We’ll see what materialises in the future.
