Man United considering loaning three academy players including 55-goal striker

Manchester United are considering loaning out three of academy players to get more first-team football, according to reports.

Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been the breakout star for Manchester United this season after Alejandro Garnacho was that man last season for the Red Devils.

Apart from Mainoo, Willy Kambwala has made a few appearances as has Dan Gore. Promoting from within has been one of Erik Ten Hag’s key strengths during his time at the club and fans will be hoping he does this more often.

When these players don’t get the required amount of game time at Old Trafford, a loan move can be very beneficial to their development. Amad Diallo’s loan move to Sunderland last season may well be the best example of this.

United open to loaning three

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, United are keen on allowing at least three academy players to leave the club in the winter window to get more game time.

Gore, who has been linked with a move to Preston North End, may be one player who will be allowed to leave the club. He has made two cameo appearances this season.

Joe Hugill, who has scored 55 academy goals for United in his career, will also be allowed to leave the club on loan with teams from EFL League One and EFL League Two interested in the forward who is set to sign a new contract with the Red Devils soon.

Hugill reportedly impressed Ten Hag in training and was a last-minute call-up against Everton in November when he was on the bench. He spent time on loan at non-league Altrincham last season.

Charlie McNeill will be recalled from his loan spell at Stevenage. One academy goalkeeper is set to leave on loan with Radek Vitek or Dermot Mee potentially in line for a temporary move away.

United’s academy plan

Hannibal Mejbri is another midfielder who could be allowed to leave on loan with Sevilla one of the sides interested in the Tunisian.

Not having any European football this season means fewer games for the likes of Hannibal to mix in.

United have to be careful with the loan market as getting this right will help these young players develop at the club.

For too long, however, the Red Devils have not got this right and have allowed these youngsters to move away from the club permanently for a minimal fee. This has to change sooner rather than later.
