Manchester United loanee Carney gets man-of-the-match on league debut
A world away from Manchester United’s first team defeating PSG in the Champions League, young loanee Jacob Carney was making an impression for his new side.
Promising goalkeeper Carney was loaned to non-league side Brighouse Town, based in Yorkshire.
Carney made his debut at the weekend in a FA Trophy game against Kendal Town.
Last night was his first league match against Pickering Town. While the game ended in a 1-0 defeat, Carney made a good impression.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Carney was named as Brighouse Town’s man-of-the-match for his role in keeping his side in with a fighting chance of getting a point.
This is Carney’s second loan spell. Last season he was out on loan at non-league side Stockbridge Steels and played regularly.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper signed a new contract with United earlier this summer.
United have a good number of young goalkeepers on the books already in the academy, so this alternative approach of loaning Carney out is a good way for him to stand out.
Carney joined United’s first team training camp in Spain in February, working with Solskjaer’s coaching staff.
He will take inspiration from Dean Henderson, who has been on various loan spells lower down the divisions and is now on the cusp of the first team.
