Jacob Carney sends message after leaving Manchester United
Jacob Carney has spoken out for the first time since his Manchester United departure was confirmed.
United announced in early June that Carney’s contract would not be renewed.
It was unclear if it was United’s decision, or the goalkeeper’s choice himself, so he can go and play first team football.
Carney has spoken out for the first time. He hinted it could have been his decision, saying the ‘the time has come’ for him to make his next career steps.

In demand
Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported Sunderland were hoping to beat Premier League side Burnley in the race for Carney’s signature.
To have two sides battling it out over him shows how highly he is rated.
Carney has already gone out on three different loan spells in his short United career.
The most recent was at Northern Irish top flight club Portadown where he won rave reviews.
Carney, 20, would gain nothing from staying in United’s academy sides and continually going on loan is not for everybody. He has shown to himself he can handle first team football, and without a clear path to United’s first team, moving on could be the smart move for him.
