Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox stance on Man Utd academy talents, exciting prediction made

The Manchester United academy is the best it has been in years right now, and Ruben Amorim is taking note.

Since taking charge in November, Ruben Amorim has only really shown an interest in Godwill Kukonki from the academy, however, this could all change.

As Manchester United’s U21 side thrashed Southampton 5-1, Amorim was on the sideline watching.

Amorim was joined by technical director Jason Wilcox, head of academy Nick Cox and also first-team coach Darren Fletcher who serves as the link between the academy and senior football.

Jack Moorhouse took this chance with both hands, as he scored two great goals, with the second being particularly impressive. Now, Amorim’s stance on the academy has been revealed to United in Focus.

What Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox think about academy talents

Amorim’s viewing of the U21 fixture was a huge sign of his intent to utilise the academy, as it was the day before a huge derby game – which United went on to win 2-1.

Now, journalist Graeme Bailey has told United in Focus the Portuguese coach’s stance on the academy.

“It’s early, but Amorim has asked Wilcox about academy kids and they are pretty upbeat”, he claimed.

Following this, United in Focus understand that a number of players are already being lined up for a first-team promotion.

“They think they have three or four who should be in the first-team squad within 18 months – but their identities are being kept under wraps.”

Which Manchester United talents are best placed to rise up

It is incredibly exciting to think that three or four of the talented list of academy players right now could soon be playing a part under Amorim.

One name which looks fairly likely to have a near future first-team role is Kukonki, with Amorim already taking note of his ability as a left-footed centre-back.

Two other U18 stars, Amir Ibragimov and Chido Obi, could join Kukonki as they are both prospects who look like a level above.

Others like Shea Lacey, Moorhouse, Jack Fitzgerald, Gabriele Biancheri, Sekou Kone and Dan Gore to name a few also look like top talents who could have a big part to play for Amorim in the coming years.
