Otto Rosengren has completed his move to Malmo weeks after Premier League giants Manchester United scouted the Swedish midfielder.
In truth, this feels like a smart move at the right time.
At Old Trafford, 20-year-old Otto Rosengren would have been at risk of being lost amid the crowd. At Malmo, however, the Sweden U21 international should have the time and the space to develop his talents at one of Scandinavia’s biggest clubs before potentially making a move to Manchester United later down the line, when he is a more mature, rounded footballer.

“Against tough competition, we have signed a very exciting player,” Daniel Andersson, Malmo’s head of sport, tells Aftonbladet.
“We have followed Otto closely throughout his journey through the youth years, and it feels like the timing is perfect to bring him into our club. We are convinced that this is absolutely the right step for Otto in his development.
“With his attitude and talent, he will help us win football matches.”
Manchester United like Otto Rosengren
Much to Rosengren’s surprise, his former employers, Mjallby AIF, confirmed back in April that Man United had sent scouts to watch the hard-working midfielder in action.
“It’s nice to hear,” he told Fotbolskanalen. “And it shows that you are doing something well. But I don’t attach too much importance to it.
“(Man United’s interest) is quite powerful. But then, of course, you can’t think about that when you’re playing. But when you do think about it, it’s quite big.
“(I need to) just keep playing my game. It’s hard work that got me here, and I want to keep developing. It’s the same job. You can’t be satisfied. You have to keep going, and then there will be good opportunities.”
Rosengren, who can play in central midfield or wide on the left-hand side, has been labelled an ‘absolutely fantastic’ talent by Mjallby head coach Anders Torstensson; his ‘pose, physique and confidence’ catching the eye.
“I didn’t know that (Manchester United) was here, I didn’t even know they had been to Strandvallen (Mjallby’s stadium),” Rosengren added.
“I was shocked when I read about it. They said that United are scouting me. I was a bit shocked.”
