Manchester United are ‘looking at’ Swedish starlet Otto Eric Rosengren, according to the sporting director of Allsvenskan outfit Mjallby AIF.
In recent years, some of European football’s most exciting young midfielders have emerged from Scandinavian soil. Mohammed Kudus and Jesper Lindstrom, now of Ajax and Eintracht Frankfurt, to name but two.
With Man United taking an interest in Rosengren, perhaps the Sweden U21 international will be in the next cab off the rank.
“There have been some Danish, English and Dutch clubs looking at him. Viborg, AGF and Manchester United, among others, have been looking at him,” Mjallby AIF chief Hans Larsson tells Tipsbladet.

A central midfielder who can also play on the left wing, Rosengren is already a first-team regular at Strandvallen. He made 26 Allsvenskan appearances in the 2022 campaign, setting up three goals as Mjallby finished ninth in the table.
Larsson, however, insists that there are currently no ‘concrete’ talks to take Rosengren to Old Trafford. Or anywhere else, for that matter.
“There is nothing concrete,” the director adds. “There have been some rumours, and then several clubs have looked at him.
“I do not really know (what the future holds). We will have to wait and see. It’s his first year as a real first-team player in Allsvenskan, and I’m not so sure he wants to leave either.
“We will have to wait and see what happens.”
The son of Mjallby legend Patrick Rosengren, some have even suggested that Otto could become the greatest player ever to wear the club’s yellow and black shirt.
“He has a very good chance of becoming the greatest of all time,” Patrik Thorell, head of the Mjallby supporters club, tells Expressen.
“People like Otto Rosengren are Mjallby. They are hard work personified. And Otto’s passion for Mjallby is unbeatable.”
“He is nothing but fantastic,” adds head coach Anders Torstensson, via FotbolSkanalen.
“As you all know, I was here in the fall of 2021 and that’s when Otto first reached the squad and got his first start. The development he’s had since…
“To see him in training and in matches, with that poise, physique, stride and confidence, t’s absolutely fantastic. I’m happy for every month we get to keep him. I think he was probably our best player during the pre-season (recently).”
