Mjallby AIF midfielder Otto Eric Rosengren admits he was ‘shocked’ to learn that Premier League giants Manchester United scouted him during a recent Allsvenskan clash.

Some of the most exciting young midfielders in European football have made their name in Scandinavia of late. And the early signs suggest that 19-year-old Rosengren could soon be following in the footsteps of Eintracht Frankuft schemer Jesper Lindstrom and Ajax talisman Mohammed Kudus.

Manchester United have watched the teenager in the flesh recently. At least, according to Mjallby AIF director Hans Larsson.

And the Sweden U21 international is understandably delighted to learn that his progress is not going unnoticed.

“It’s nice to hear,” Rosengren tells Fotbolskanalen. “And it shows that you are doing something well. But I don’t attach too much importance to it.

“(Man United’s interest) is quite powerful. But then, of course, you can’t think about that when you’re playing. But when you do think about it, it’s quite big.

“(I need to) just keep playing my game. It’s hard work that got me here, and I want to keep developing. It’s the same job. You can’t be satisfied. You have to keep going, and then there will be good opportunities.”

Rosengren, who can play in central midfield or wide on the left-hand side, has been labelled an ‘absolutely fantastic’ talent by Mjallby head coach Anders Torstensson; his ‘pose, physique and confidence’ catching the eye.

“I didn’t know that (Manchester United) was here, I didn’t even know they had been to Strandvallen (Mjallby’s stadium),” Rosengren adds.

“I was shocked when I read about it. They said that United are scouting me. I was a bit shocked.”

Rosengren insists that there is ‘nothing concrete’ regarding any of his suitors just yet. What’s more, he remains under contract until 2025.
