‘Very confident’ director explains what incoming Manchester United man will add to his team

Eintracht Frankfurt director Markus Krosche is ‘very confident’ that Donny Van de Beek will join on loan from Premier League giants Manchester United in the January transfer window.

We would call it one of football’s worst kept secrets. But can you even call it a ‘secret’, when one party is discussing the transfer so publicly?

A couple of days after Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmoller described Donny van de Beek as an ‘outstanding footballer’, his sporting director appeared to suggest that the Manchester United misfit has one foot and a few toes in the Commerzbank Arena, having undergone medical tests in Germany.

Donny van de Beek is leaving Manchester United

“I am very confident that Donny will be with us for the next six months,” Krosche tells Kicker.

“We still need quality across the board. We need experience, we are a very young team. Donny can certainly help us with that.”

Van de Beek will move to Germany on loan. Frankfurt are also expected to have a £13 million option-to-buy clause in his contract, the former Ajax midfielder finally escaping his Red Devils hell after making just six Premier League starts since joining in a £35 million deal during the summer of 2020.

Van de Beek will hope to follow in the footsteps of Davy Klaassen, another who struggled after leaving Ajax for England but restored his reputation in Germany with Werder Bremen.

Eintracht Frankfurt are closing in on deal

“(Frankfurt is) a good choice. A very good choice,” Simon Cziommer, who played in both the Bundesliga and the Eredivisie tells Viaplay.

“(Frankfurt) play with a lot of pressure on the opponent. They can run the ball well, and I think he is a good addition to the squad, especially to create depth. (They need to utilise) his strength and get into the box.

“The players around him are made to play the passes into his feet, or into the space.”

Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane could also leave Manchester United in January, while Dan Gore may depart on loan
