Manager says he does like Man United talent but move not imminent

Manchester United starlet Dan Gore has been linked with a loan move to the Championship but Preston North End have ‘no concrete interest’ in the Premier League interest.

That is according to Ryan Lowe, the Preston boss wasting no time in dismissing reports suggesting that Dan Gore could be making the short trip from Old Trafford to Deepdale during the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old appears to have outgrown youth team football, ready to try his hand at senior action. And while the departure of Donny van de Beek to Eintracht Frankfurt could yet open up a space in Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United squad, the likelihood is that Gore will have to leave on loan in search of first-team minutes.

But he won’t be getting them at Preston, Lowe insisting that Gore is not a target for the Lilywhites as things stand and will not be following in David Beckham’s footsteps across Lancashire.

Manchester United could loan out Dan Gore

“Dan Gore, midfielder, yeah I am aware of him,” Lowe begins, speaking to the Lancashire Post. “But, there is no concrete interest. We have got too many players at the moment.

“I do like him. He is a good player. Yeah, we do like him but he is not one for now – unless anyone moves out the door.

“He’s probably one of six, seven, eight, nine, ten (players) we’ll be linked with over the next week.”

Preston may be out of the race then – not that they were every in it in the first place – but there should still be plenty of EFL clubs willing to snatch United’s hand off to sign Gore on loan. Could he join Wayne Rooney at Birmingham City, for example? Or perhaps Michael Carrick at Middlesbrough?

Van de Beek set for OldTrafford exit

The Manchester-born 19-year-old, voted the club’s reserve team Player of the Year a few months back, made his senior bow under Ten Hag during September’s 3-0 Carabao Cup cruise against Crystal Palace.

Van de Beek, meanwhile, should secure a move to Frankfurt this week. He will join on loan with an option-to-buy clause in his Commerzbank Arena contract.

“I think everyone who knows a little bit about football knows that (Van de Beek) is an outstanding footballer,” Dino Toppmoller, Frankfurt coach, tells FAZ. “If he signs, we would be looking forward to it.”
