Man Utd target Mateus Fernandes has more interest in the Premier League
Fernandes’ future could be arranged before the World Cup ends because he is not competing at the tournament.
That helps explain why more potential suitors are emerging, creating a competitive market for United, who have held talks over a potential fee and wages for Fernandes.
According to The Athletic, Tottenham are interested in a move for Fernandes, while they remain keen on signing Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali.
Interestingly, Tonali is another Premier League-proven midfielder linked with a move to Old Trafford.
It is stated that Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi is pushing to sign Fernandes, despite West Ham’s £80m asking price.
Moreover, Southampton have a 15% sell-on fee for Fernandes.

West Ham will try to make as much profit on Fernandes as they can, though getting relegated from the Premier League certainly makes it harder to maximise.
The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas has featured on a United podcast to give some extra insight into Fernandes’ future.
He doesn’t think West Ham will get the £80m they are demanding for Fernandes, meaning the Portuguese starlet could move for less before the transfer window shuts.
Thomas told United United United: “Although West Ham want £80m, which is his valuation because of their current situation of being in the Champions League, I don’t think that’s a fee they’ll be able to get.”
