Manchester United target Mateus Fernandes could snub Arsenal’s transfer interest due to the West Ham star’s preferred choice of clubs, according to stunning reports.

Mateus Fernandes has been on Manchester United’s radar and the 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder has seen growing transfer interest in his future.

West Ham will struggle to keep hold of the former Southampton star after the Hammers were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

Man Utd-linked Fernandes has been at the London Stadium since 2025 after his Southampton exit and he has impressed in his debut season for the Hammers.

Forget Arsenal, West Ham and Portugal star Mateus Fernandes wants either Man Utd or PSG this summer

Arsenal are one of the clubs keeping tabs on the future of midfielder Mateus Fernandes, who is under contract with Championship side West Ham until 2030.

Premier League sides Chelsea and Aston Villa have shown an interest in the Portugal star, while Serie A clubs Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus have been linked with him.

According to TEAMtalk, Fernandes is ‘very open’ to making a move to either Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain if the ‘right opportunity’ were to arise.

The news outlet added that a ‘major interest’ for Fernandes is playing in the Champions League for the 2026-27 campaign after West Ham’s relegation.

Fernandes is reportedly firm on his desire to play at the ‘highest level’ and the former Sporting CP midfielder sees his future away from the London Stadium.

PSG’s transfer position on Man Utd target Mateus Fernandes amid West Ham’s uphill battle to keep hold of him

TEAMtalk has reported that PSG have remained ‘in contact’ with the representatives of Fernandes, who will be heading to the World Cup with Portugal this summer.

It has been added that the Ligue 1 and Champions League title holders are ‘big admirers’ of Man Utd target Fernandes and feel he would be the ‘perfect’ transfer.

West Ham are expected to demand a hefty £85m price tag for Fernandes after facing an uphill battle to keep hold of him in the summer transfer window.

La Liga sides Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have also been linked with Fernandes after the West Ham star’s successful run of form in the 2025-26 campaign.
