The Championship has some excellent players who Manchester United should be considering this summer.
Crystal Palace are one club who have shown that there is plenty of quality in the Championship over recent years, and now Manchester United could be following suit.
This is the case as United continue talks with Burnley over potentially signing Burnley’s Sander Berge this summer after their relegation last season.
United values Berge at £20m, which in this market would be a bargain and therefore it is quite simple to see why he is a target.
But there are plenty more players available for bargain fees from England’s second division, here are three United should consider.

Wilson Odobert
First on the list is another talented Burnley player who has a bright future in football after some excellent displays last season, despite playing for relegation fodder.
Wilson Odobert is only 19 and yet has some excellent qualities which means he could be a solid attacking reinforcement for United, capable of playing multiple positions.
- 3.26 shot-creating actions per 90
- 4.38 progressive carries per 90
- 2.27 successful take-ons per 90
These stats, as per FBRef, show the quality he has and that they could improve further if he was afforded the chance to play in a better team than Burnley – plus he would likely cost a minuscule fee.
Ben Sheaf
Next up is a midfielder that United will know very well after his FA Cup semi-final display, Ben Sheaf. The 26-year-old is more than ready for a Premier League move and we would much rather sign him than someone like Adrien Rabiot – especially with Sheaf likely to only cost around £15m.
Sheaf has been likened to Joao Neves by FBRef, mainly for the fact he is a true all-rounder in midfield. A volume passer, who can also create, carry the ball and do the defensive dirty work – as seen through his high percentile rankings in the stats amongst his positional peers.
- 3.56 shot-creating actions per 90 – 86th percentile
- 8.42 progressive passes per 90 – 96th percentile
- 2.27 progressive carries per 90 – 87th percentile
- 1.22 successful take-ons per 90 – 86th percentile
- 3.64 tackles per 90 – 97th percentile
- 1.51 interceptions per 90 – 84th percentile

Sheaf struggles aerially and in his passes completed which are two areas he could improve at United. Against Erik ten Hag’s United last season, Sheaf had 96 touches and a match rating of 8.1 as per FotMob which should have caught the eye which explains recent links.
Jobe Bellingham
The final name on our list is Jude Bellingham’s 18-year-old brother Jobe Bellingham who is set for a standout year with Sunderland.
While Jobe is less of a finished product than Sheaf, for example, he quite clearly has tremendous talent which United could invest in early and give him some loan moves to reach his potential.
Plenty of clubs are signing teenage talents to loan them out, and so why can’t United do the same with Jobe still a Championship-level player, but this summer he would cost just £20m – a figure likely to rise by next summer.
This would be a shrewd move and could prove a masterstroke by the club.
