At long last, Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United is imminent, and now his former manager has sent a message.

There was a time during the past month that it looked as though Bryan Mbeumo was never going to get his move to Old Trafford.

It was all the way back at the beginning of June that Mbeumo picked Manchester United as his next club. From that point, it took United more than six weeks of negotiating before caving in to pay what Brentford wanted.

This led to a long and drawn-out saga, which is finally about to hit the end credits as United agreed a deal worth £65m to sign Mbeumo (rising to £70m with add-ons).

The deal being completed is long, long overdue, and now Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has sent a message to Mbeumo ahead of his United move.

Thomas Frank speaks out over Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United

Mbeumo owes a lot to Frank, as it was the Dane who brought him to the Premier League and helped him evolve into one of the best players in the league.

Frank has always spoken highly of Mbeumo for his work ethic and character, alongside his clear supreme talent on the pitch.

Earlier in the summer, there was concern that he would have tried to take Mbeumo to Spurs with him. However, Mbeumo only wanted United, which forced Spurs to cool their interest.

Now, while speaking with the media on Friday, Frank has sent a message to ‘fantastic’ Mbeumo.

“Bryan, of course, is a fantastic player. I have been with him for five years. I think he deserved the move, no matter where he goes, and that is a player I wish all the best”, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

This message comes ahead of Mbeumo’s medical for his United move.

When will Bryan Mbeumo have his Manchester United medical?

The frustration over how long it took Ineos to sign Mbeumo is misplaced to a degree, as the deal ended up very favourable for United. It will see United pay Brentford £65m in four instalments, which is just £16.25m per season.

This deal being completed is very exciting for the club and could be a significant upgrade on the attacking options for Amorim. However, United face a race against time to get everything wrapped up for the Cameroonian international to be on the plane to the USA on Tuesday.

With the rush now well and truly on, The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported that Mbeumo is expected to undergo his medical this weekend ahead of joining his teammates.

Considering how long talks dragged on for, United will hopefully have had a medical on standby and get everything done on Saturday in plenty of time for Tuesday’s flight.
