Plenty of Manchester United fans are hoping that Ruben Amorim can bring Viktor Gyokeres with him to Manchester.

Ruben Amorim took charge of his final Sporting Lisbon match on Sunday evening and inspired them to a remarkable 4-2 comeback win over Braga.

Amorim arrived in England on Monday afternoon as he prepares for his first day as the new head coach of Manchester United.

He leaves behind a Sporting side who boast an incredible 100 percent winning record in Liga Portugal this season and Amorim joked that one Sporting star is “angry” with him after his decision to leave.

Amorim insisted he will not sign any of his Sporting players at Manchester United over the January transfer window, but supporters are hoping that will not put a move for Viktor Gyokeres in jeopardy.

Man United linked with Viktor Gyokeres move

Gyokeres has stood out more than anyone else during Amorim’s reign at Sporting Lisbon.

The 26-year-old Swedish striker averages nearly a goal a game playing under Amorim. He has played 68 games under United’s new head coach and scored 66 goals with 23 assists.

United fans were blown away by Gyokeres as he scored a hat-trick in Sporting’s 4-1 demolition of Manchester City in the Champions League.

According to The Times, Gyokeres has an agreement with Sporting that he can leave for £63million in 2025.

Gyokeres has responded to the United rumours, which have picked up plenty of speed after Amorim’s appointment at Old Trafford.

Sporting president makes Viktor Gyokeres transfer claim

Amorim insists that he will not make a move for any Sporting star until next summer, which leaves Gyokeres up for grabs in January.

Sporting president Frederico Varandas unveiled Joao Pereira as Amorim’s replacement on Monday afternoon and he was asked about players leaving in January.

As quoted by Portuguese outlet A Bola, Varandas said: “Regarding the transfer market, I can’t promise anything that I can’t avoid.

“If a club comes and pays the release clause and the player wants to go, pay it. Do I believe it? No.”

If Varandas does not anticipate Gyokeres leaving in January, a summer exit would suit United perfectly so that Amorim can be reunited with his star striker.
