Manchester United are still on the hunt for a striker in the January transfer window.
One option fell by the wayside for Manchester United over the weekend, with Timo Werner agreeing to sign with Tottenham Hotspur.
You won’t find too many fans upset about that – although he could change a few minds if he has an impact on his possible debut for Spurs against United next weekend.
Whichever, it doesn’t change the fact Manchester United need a striker to back up Rasmus Hojlund, who is an upgrade on Anthony Martial.

Serhou Guirassy latest
Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, via Sky Sports. This depends on funds being available.
Guirassy has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, and has a bargain £15 million release clause in his contract.
“It would be crazy if he didn’t get any offers,” former Germany striker Mario Gomez told Sport1 this weekend.
Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth told BW24 the club is ready to move on a replacement if they need to, but prefer to keep Guirassy. He admits the players are worried about whether they will hold onto their star striker.
He said: “We will keep our eyes and ears open. We’re not under any pressure, but the squad situation is a bit tense at the moment.”
Guirassy in line for new deal
Speaking to 90Min Germany, Wohlgemouth added that they are willing to hold talks with Guirassy in summer to reward him with a new deal, and presumably increase the release clause. So there is some financial incentive for the striker to stay, if he chooses to do so.
He explained: “In the summer we would have good arguments to extend his contract. We are very, very sure that he feels comfortable.
“Everyone hopes that he stays. He feels that too, that doesn’t leave him indifferent and so we hope that he will still be with us on February 1st.”
The striker’s situation is complicated by the fact he is currently away with Guinea for the African Cup of Nations, meaning for any club like United which pay the clause, he will not be instantly available.
It remains most likely at this stage that United find a loan option – but it won’t be Werner.
