Manchester United could benefit from the incredible bust-up at Real Madrid.

In 2025/26, Manchester United are no longer the craziest, wildest club in football. This season that dubious label belongs to Real Madrid.

Two successive altercations between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde have hit the headlines, with the latter admitted to hospital.

Spanish outlet Cadena Cope reports: “During the scuffle, Valverde slipped and accidentally hit his head on a table, suffering a significant cut that required him to be taken to the hospital.”

Real Madrid have released a statement confirming that they have now launched an internal investigation.

There is a possible knock-on impact for Manchester United due to the club’s ongoing transfer interest in Aurelien Tchouameni.

What are your thoughts on the ‘fights’ between Tchouameni and Valverde… does this present an opportunity for United? Or is this a bad omen for a transfer?

Would Tchouameni be the right fit for United's dressing room?

Spanish media give verdict

Real’s investigation comes amid a frustrating season for the La Liga giants, where they will finish without a trophy. They are currently searching for a new manager, even linked with bringing back Jose Mourinho – just the person to add to a combustible situation.

For now the Tchouameni and Valverde incident is overshadowing everything else, with the investigation now ongoing.

Cadena Cope reports that it is possible the investigation could end up with one of the players being sold.

They state: “If the club classifies the actions as a  serious offense, the players face a suspension without pay of 3 to 10 matches . In the case of a very serious offense, the sanction could range from 11 to 20 matches.

“Furthermore, the club’s regulations stipulate that, in severe situations of high tension, players involved in professional misconduct may be sold.”

If Madrid put Tchouameni up for sale, or even Valverde, they would also have to accept a diminished price tag. United would be interested in either player, and this could present an opportunity.

Tchouameni had also been linked with extending his Real Madrid contract. This seems a little less likely now.

The latest incident is said to have begun when the pair refused to shake hands and reconcile following the previous day’s altercation.

Marca also report that Real’s investigation ‘could result in fines or suspension from the team’. The bust-up has caused alarm at the ‘highest levels’ of the club.

A separate report from La Razon notes: “The board seeks to send a clear message that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.”

Sport point to the awful timing, with the El Clasico set to take place this coming weekend.

“Clasico could be the final straw in a dressing room that hasn’t been united for some time. Real Madrid desperately wants this season to end, because with each passing day, the tension only intensifies.”

How much should Man Utd pay to sign Aurelien Tchouameni? What would you consider a fair fee?

Valverde issues statement

Federico Valverde issued a statement on Instagram, commenting: “At no point did my teammate hit me, and I didn’t hit him either, although I understand it’s easier for you to believe we came to blows or that it was intentional, but that didn’t happen.

“I feel that my anger about the situation, my frustration at seeing some of us struggling to get through the end of the season, giving it our all, pushed me to the point of arguing with a teammate.”

One way or another, this is a major mess for Real to sort out, and the simplest solution could be accepting a transfer offer from Manchester United.
