Simon Jordan is confident that Manchester United could still earn £45 million via the sale of Jadon Sancho with the Premier League misfit returning to Borussia Dortmund on an initial loan deal this month.
It’s not often the former Crystal Palace chairman is on board with a decision made by Manchester United, but even Simon Jordan thinks the Red Devils have done the right thing with Jadon Sancho.
The £73 million England international – persona non grata at Old Trafford these days – will return to Borussia Dortmund imminently, the Bundesliga giants signing him on loan and agreeing to pay a portion of his wages (The Times).
And, as far as Jordan is concerned, United are right to cut their losses. A return to form in familiar surroundings in Germany, meanwhile, could serve to boost Sancho’s reputation – as well as his price-tag – and allow the Red Devils to recoup a decent percentage of their eye-watering investment when the summer rolls around.

Jadon Sancho is returning to Borussia Dortmund
“I don’t think he’s a particularly great player. Now, they’ve got the problem of having to unload him,” Jordan tells talkSPORT (3 January, 10.50am).
“He’s a dead weight. He’s been a waste of time at the football club. For me, if I was involved in Man United, this player would be gone.
“You can either carry £10 million worth of wages until June, or you can get someone else to pick him up (on loan). And that’s £5 million back. They can flog him in the summer, and they will get (some) of their money back.
“They won’t get £73 million. But they will sell him for £45 million and they’ll move on.”
Sancho is very unlikely to ever pull on that iconic red shirt again, with Jordan pointing out that this is not the first time the one-time Man City starlet has ran into problems with his off-field discipline. Sancho also left staff frustrated with his attitude and time keeping both at Dortmund and with the England national team (Daily Mail).
Good riddance
It remains to be seen if United will look to bring in a replacement this month. Donyell Malen, BVB’s one-time Arsenal forward, has been tipped to move in the other direction. Those rumours have grown cold of late, however.
Yeremi Pino of Villarreal has admirers at Old Trafford but he is out until the summer with an ACL injury.
