Roma have shown interest in signing £9m Man Utd player amid Jose Mourinho sacking

Roma have shown an interest in signing Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri just days after sacking Jose Mourinho.

United fans probably expected Facundo Pellistri to be gone by now.

The Uruguayan winger has been lined up for another loan move away from the club with Granada keen to strike a deal.

Granada recently lost one United loanee in Alvaro Fernandez, as he was moved on to Benfica, but they could land another in Pellistri.

Reports last week indicated that United were expecting Pellistri to finalise a move to Granada but we still haven’t seen the move go through.

Fabrizio Romano remains confident that the deal will materialise but there is growing rival interest in Pellistri with the Granada move stalling over the last week.

Roma show Facundo Pellistri interest

The Daily Mail report that Roma have now expressed a ‘tentative’ interest in signing Pellistri on loan for the rest of the season.

PSV Eindhoven are interested too but Roma are a new suitor in the race for Pellistri’s signature.

Roma sacked former United boss Jose Mourinho last week and have brought back club hero Daniele De Rossi as a replacement.

The Italian side are now showing an interest in Pellistri, seemingly keen to bolster De Rossi’s squad after a disappointing campaign under Mourinho.

Granada still appear to be in the box seat but Roma’s interest could throw a spanner in the works as United weigh up the best move for Pellistri’s development.

Pellistri’s Manchester United future may be on the line

Pellistri has already spent 18 months away on loan, joining Alaves in January 2021 and staying until the summer of 2022.

The 22-year-old still isn’t a regular at United though and has made just one Premier League start this season.

Erik ten Hag now seems ready to loan Pellistri out and this next spell feels like it could be make or break for him.

United haven’t seen enough of Pellistri at 22 and can’t wait forever in terms of seeing his talent and potential.

After paying £9million to sign Pellistri, United seemingly thought that the winger had real potential to become a star of the future.

That hasn’t yet been seen on a consistent basis in the famous red shirt and Pellistri needs to show what he has got right now and prove that he can have a long-term future at Old Trafford.

Whether it’s Roma, Granada, PSV or another club, Pellistri needs to go out and find his best form – or he may find that United are willing to sell him rather than loan him out come the end of the season.
