Manchester United are now expecting to see Facundo Pellistri sign for Granada in a loan deal until the end of the season.

United have just thrown a spanner in the works for Granada, recalling left back Alvaro Fernandez from his loan spell in Spain.

Granada weren’t exactly looking for Fernandez to leave but United recalled him before sending him straight on to Portuguese giants Benfica.

That deal could become permanent in the summer and United may now strike a deal to somewhat make amends with Granada…

Manchester United expect Facundo Pellistri to join Granada

The Manchester Evening News now report that United are expecting to see Facundo Pellistri head to Granada on loan.

Pellistri has also attracted interest from MLS side LA Galaxy and Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven, but it’s Granada who appear to have won the race.

It’s stated that Erik ten Hag actually approved a summer departure for Pellistri but an injury scuppered a move.

Now fit and struggling for first-team action at United, Pellistri is ready to go out on loan again – and it’s another trip to Spain.

Pellistri spent 18 months on loan at Alaves following an October 2020 move from Penarol, playing 33 times and scoring no goals.

Pellistri needs this loan move to be more of a success but joins a Granada side who sit second-bottom of the La Liga table and are battling against relegation.

Time running out for Pellistri to make the grade at Manchester United

United paid £9million to sign Pellistri more than three years ago, but we are still yet to really see signs of a breakthrough at Old Trafford.

The Uruguayan has shown flashes of his quality, but has only made 13 Premier League appearances.

It sounds insane to say that time is running out for a 22-year-old, but United can’t wait forever and need to see more quality from Pellistri.

This loan move may even be Pellistri’s last chance to prove that he has a future at United; a difficult few months and United may well cash in.

Pellistri is behind a host of wingers at United right now and with at least one more expected to arrive in the summer, it feels like this move to Granada is make or break for his United career.
