Report claims Manchester United have now made £105m ‘proposal’ for big star

Manchester United have reportedly made a ‘120 million euro proposal’ for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham but Real Madrid remains his preferred destination.

That is according to Tuttomercatoweb anyway; their latest report a classic case of ‘don’t believe everything you read’ as silly season starts to get that little bit goofier.

These latest claims are, after all, in start contrast to what we already know surrounding Manchester United’s summer plans. Financial Fair Play concerns will limit Erik ten Hag’s spending powers, Qatari owners or otherwise.

Furthermore, with United eyeing additions in goal, at centre-forward and in defence, the logic of spending in addition of £100 million on one player – even one as supremely-talented as Bellingham – is, at best, questionable.

Is Jude Bellingham really heading to Manchester United?

Tuttomercatoweb report that Manchester United are ready to break their transfer record for Bellingham. A long-term target – the former Birmingham City wonderkid was given a guided tour around Carrington before opting for Dortmund back in 2020 (The BBC) – the Bundesliga challengers want a nine-figure sum and TMW believe that United are willing to oblige, having made a £105 million ‘proposal’.

Those more in-tune to goings-on at Old Trafford, however, will tell you that Bellingham has not been a realistic target for some time now. United are instead expected to prioritise a more affordable midfielder. Potentially one capable of providing competition for – and eventually replacing – 31-year-old Casemiro.

Romeo Lavia, outstanding even during Southampton’s miserable campaign, is one such option. Ditto Fiorentina’s World Cup star Sofyan Amrabat, and Everton’s telescopic enforcer Andre Onana. Ibrahim Sangare may be another alternative.

Labelled ‘world-class’ during Morocco’s stirring run to the semi-finals in Qatar; Amrabat could cost around £70 million less than Dortmund are demanding for Bellingham.

“We received more than one offer during the winter window,” Amrabat’s agent tells Kora Plus. “Including one from Manchester United.

“The president of Fiorentina (Rocco Commisso) absolutely refused to let him leave at that moment. He represented value for the team, especially after what he did in the World Cup.”
